The Highlands and Islands Students Association (HISA) is seeking urgent guidance for students who have been told they can not travel to term-time accommodation.
HISA president Florence Jansen wants urgent clarification of guidance for the unique student demographics of the Highlands.
Ms Jansen was responding to Scottish Government guidance that students should not travel to their term-time accommodation.
Ms Jansen, said: “In line with NUS Scotland, HISA is calling for all teaching to be delivered online where possible.
"We believe that no student should be expected to return to campus should they not need to, but that the decision should be their own.
"The blanket statement of the Scottish Government does not take into consideration courses with practical elements, our International students, or student welfare issues, and clarification is needed urgently.
“Due to current arrangements, many students are at risk of being both financially and academically disadvantaged, and we hope to see additional guidance provided as soon as possible for the unique demographics that make up the student population within Scotland, particularly those that experience challenges with at-home learning.
"We are disappointed not just by the lack of clarification on this issue, but on term two arrangements in general.”
