The future of Pizza Express in Inverness appears secure as it was not named as one of dozens set to close.

There had been speculation earlier this month about whether the Pizza Express restaurant in the city's Falcon Square would survive as owners said closures were necessary to address a decline in earnings across the group.

Zoe Bowley, Pizza Express's managing director for the UK and Ireland, said: "Unfortunately, the impact of the global pandemic has meant that we have had to make some incredibly tough decisions to safeguard Pizza Express for the long term."

Three Scottish branches are on the list earmarked for closure released today: Belmont Street in Aberdeen, Holyrood in Edinburgh and Princes Square in Glasgow.

Pizza Express currently has 454 branches across the UK.
