A MUSIC festival's anticipated return to Inverness in 2021 has been pushed back by several months – due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Gathering Festival's second outing, which will take place at the Northern Meeting Park, has been pushed back from its original May 29 date until September 4 next year.
But organisers have moved to assure fans that most of the planned line-up – which includes the likes of the Peatbog Faeries and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers – will be making the switch to the new date.
Confirming the news, they said: "It has been a really hard decision to move The Gathering back by a few months next summer. We are not saying we don’t believe there will not be any events by May next year, rather that in order for us to have the best chance of delivering a successful festival where everyone feels safe, moving The Gathering back by a couple of months will allow us to achieve this.
"We cannot wait to welcome everyone to The Gathering Festival next summer and know by the time it comes around and we are all able to celebrate together this is going to an incredible Highland party!"
They added that customers who have already purchased tickets will have these automatically transferred to the new September 4 date. Those ticket holders who cannot attend the new date will be given a full refund.
The spokesperson added: "As an independent festival we would be hugely grateful to any customers who are able to hold on to their tickets to help us be in as strong a position to deliver an incredible festival next summer.
They continued: "We are delighted to have been able to secure the majority of the line-up for this later date with the confirmed initial announcement featuring Wolfstone, Peatbog Faeries, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Trail West, Torridon and rhythmnreel.
"More acts will be announced early in 2021 along with our incredible line up of family entertainment and craft Highland and Scottish food and drink partners.
"See you next September and in the meantime stay safe."
