AN MSP who last summer clocked up over 2500 miles by road and sea hosting more than 60 surgeries will this year bring some of her sessions online due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

Kate Forbes, whose Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency includes Dingwall and the Black Isle, said that in a typical year she makes a special effort to visit the far-flung corners of her constituency which cannot always be reached when Holyrood is sitting due to the extended distances.

During July and August, she takes time to meet community groups, businesses and local people in the constituency.

This summer, she is moving some surgeries and meetings online but says she still hopes to visit Ross-shire, the Black Isle, Skye, Lochalsh, Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, the Great Glen and Lochaber. She will use feedback from the tour to help inform and shape her priorities for the coming year.

She said: “In previous years, I have spent weeks of the summer travelling around the constituency and holding surgeries in as many village halls as possible. It has allowed me to meet hundreds of constituents and discuss matters of concern.

“Unfortunately, the pandemic means I have to change my normal habits and some of move the summer tour online.

“There will be still opportunities to discuss matters and I hope to visit some businesses that are allowed to reopen in late July.

“If you’d like a visit or you want to discuss matters, then please get in touch.”
