Highland Heroes is back!
Highland Heroes has returned for 2026!
We want to hear all about the amazing local heroes in your community. Nominations are now open online!
The title sponsor for 2026 is Serimax.
Murdo MacAngus, commercial and operations development director at Serimax, said: "With strong roots in the Highlands and operations around the world, we understand that the strength of any organisation lies in its people – and the same is true for the communities we live and work in.
“The Highland Heroes Awards shine a light on those who give selflessly, act with courage and support others with quiet determination. Their attitudes and actions reflect the values we hold firmly at Serimax: integrity, commitment and a strong focus on making a positive impact.
"We believe in strengthening the communities around us. Whether it’s through advancing engineering excellence, backing local causes or investing in the next generation through our Highlands-based Welding Training School, we are committed to building a better, more sustainable future. Our full apprentice programme offers local young people real career opportunities at home – with the potential to work globally.
"Sponsoring this event allows us to honour our local unsung champions – teachers, carers, emergency workers, fundraisers, volunteers and young people – those whose contributions often go unrecognised, but whose impact is profound. It also gives us a meaningful opportunity to connect with our local community and celebrate shared values.
“At Serimax, we believe in people – those who lead with heart, act with purpose and inspire through action. That’s why we’re honoured to celebrate the Highland Heroes.
“We encourage everyone to take the opportunity to nominate someone in their community who deserves to be recognised and celebrated at this special event.”
Highland News & Media managing director, Steven Barron, added: “We’re delighted to launch Highland Heroes 2026 and offer our readers the opportunity to give thanks and to celebrate the real-life superheroes in their communities.
“It is the dedication, generosity, kindness and courage of these unsung heroes that make our neighbourhoods better and bring people together which is what community really means.
“We continue to be inspired and moved by the stories we hear from our readers about the Highland Heroes who have made a real difference to their lives and others. Give your heroes the recognition they deserve and nominate now.” Once all of your nominations have been received, they will be whittled down into a shortlist and you will be able to vote for your winners.
All the winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.
