Firefighters tackle blaze at landmark wood panel manufacturing plant near Highland capital

Firefighters spent more than five hours tackling a blaze at a wood panel manufacturing plant near Inverness.

The incident happened yesterday at the former Norbord plant at Dalcross, now part of the West Fraser group.

The alarm was raised at 5.30pm and was reported to be out at 11.10pm.

No one was injured.

Six appliances from Inverness, Dingwall and Nairn attended the incident.

Firefighters used four main jets, an aerial ladder and eight sets of breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.

The company is carrying out an investigation into the incident.
