The carcass of a minke whale washed up on a Black Isle beach has been removed by Highland Council.

The juvenile whale, reported to have had fishing gear lodged around its mouth, was removed and taken for disposal by the environmental health team from the local authority on Monday afternoon.

The whale had washed up on the beach on Saturday.

Some reported having seen fishing net material in its mouth. It had been spotted elsewhere in Ross-shire earlier.
