THE MAIN EVENT: How to get to the Black Isle Show as farming community's big day swings into action amidst warning of heavy traffic

TRAFFIC is expected to be heavier on roads leading to the Black Isle Show today as the event makes an eagerly anticipated return to action following Covid-related cancellations.

The event at Mannsfield Showground in Muir of Ord started with a preview evening yesterday. The main event is today.

Traffic will be heavier than normal on the A9, A835 and A862.

People are being asked to consider active travel and public transport options.

Transport chiefs expect traffic to be heavier than normal on the A9 and the A835. Surrounding local routes may also be impacted with extra traffic.

Getting there:

Bus

See Stagecoach website for getting to Muir of Ord.

Train

The nearest station is at Muir of Ord, a 20-minute walk to the Black Isle Show. See ScotRail for train times.

Driving

Traffic travelling north from Inverness should follow the A9 north to Tore roundabout.

Traffic travelling south from Invergordon/Tain areas should also follow the A9 south to the Tore Roundabout.

Signs will direct show traffic to exit along the A832 to Muir of Ord.

Follow this road for approximately five miles to the Muir of Ord industrial estate turn off where signing at these crossroads will direct you to turn left onto the B9169 – this will take you into Car park 1 and Car park 2 which are on the left-hand side.

Traffic travelling from Beauly and west of Beauly should follow the A862 to Muir of Ord where you will be directed right into the Industrial Estate junction and onto the B9169. This will take you into Forest Car park (West) on the right hand side opposite the show field.

Traffic travelling from Ullapool, Dingwall and Conon Bridge should drive into Muir of Ord and at the Tarradale Hotel junction signing will direct you along the A832 and into Car park 3 on the right-hand side.
