HEAVY rain and a snow melt risk have sparked a Met Office weather warning for parts of Ross-shire this weekend.

The yellow alert will come into force at 6am on Saturday and remain in place for the next 18 hours.

“Heavy rain and some snow melt may lead to some travel disruption through Saturday,” warned a Met Office forecaster.

They added that bus and train services might be affected and that journey times may take longer than normal.

They also warned of spray and flooding on roads and added that “a few” homes and businesses might be at risk from the waters.

The area covered by the alert affects most of Wester Ross. It extends to Loch Ewe, Gruinard Bay and Loch Broom in the north, and almost to the Beauly Firth in the east.

Elsewhere, it also covers most of Skye, all of Lochaber, parts of Mull and Argyll and as far south as Loch Long, Loch Lomond and the Cowal peninsula.
