Head of Inverness school set to lead Fortrose Academy while search for new rector continues
An Inverness rector is set to take on a temporary role leading a Black Isle secondary school where recruitment for a new head teacher is ongoing.
In a letter to parents and carers, Inverness Royal Academy Rector Nigel Engstrand said he will be “providing leadership” to Fortrose Academy until a permanent appointment is made to the vacant headteacher’s position.
The move was decided by the Education and Learning Service, with Mr Engstrand set to take over at Fortrose on Monday, October 28.
He wrote in the letter: “The recruitment to this post is in process: the closing date for applicants is today.
“It is anticipated that, following interviews, the successful candidate will take up their post at some point in late autumn at which point I will return to Inverness.
“My substantive post will continue to be Rector of Inverness Royal Academy; Gordon Piper (Depute Rector) will act as headteacher in my absence.”
In August, it was announced that the school was on the hunt for a new head teacher, with an annual salary of nearly £85,000.
Wim Chamlet has been the acting head at Fortrose Academy since March this year.
