A grounded fishing vessel sparked a call-out for the RNLI’s Kessock lifeboat on Friday afternoon.

The lifesaving crew were scrambled at 4.18pm after being requested to launch by the Coastguard in response to reports that a vessel had grounded around 400 metres north of the Kessock Bridge.

“After the crew assembled, it was decided to carry out a welfare check on the vessel and its four crew to ensure everyone on board was OK,” said a spokesperson for the Kessock crew shortly before 6.30pm.

“Once assessed, the lifeboat was stood down and the fishermen will set sail in a few hours when they refloat at high tide.

“This was also our newest tractor driver Sylvia’s first shout as a driver, congratulations and well done.

“Thank you for your support. If you see anyone in danger near the water, please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
