A WESTER Ross challenge set in stunning scenery should this year breach the £3m mark for local charities.

Hopes are high the target will be reached at this year's Great Wilderness Challenge, which takes place on Saturday, August 24.

Entry materials for the event, now in its 28th year, are now available in a number of formats.

Invitations are extended to individuals or teams (companies, groups of friends, schools etc) to participate to raise funds for several Highland charities.

Charities set to benefit from the stunningly set Wester Ross event this year include Highland Hospice, CLIC Sargent, Carr Gomm Inverness, Crossroads Skye and MS Therapy Centre Inverness.

Entry material is now available. Would-be participants can download entry and sponsor forms, enter online using a secure registration page or contact GWC secretary Pat Ross for hard copy forms.

To date £2.91 million has been distributed to charity since 1986. Organisers hope that the £3 million milestone will be reached this year.

As usual, participants will have the choice of seven- 13- and 25-mile walks, or 13 and 25 mile runs. Team members do not have to be all in the same discipline.
