A Ross-shire distillery's whisky is the best of the best this Christmas - according to a food and drink critic on a major national newspaper.

Glenmorangie Distillery has been given an early Christmas present after the Guardian's Joanne Gould branded one of its creations as the "best aged single malt" in her list of the best whisky for Christmas 2024.

The mal in question was Glenmorangie's 18-year-old, the Infinita.

Compiling a list of "our 10 favourite bottles this December", Ms Gould wrote the following about the Tain distillery's spirit : "It's easy to spend silly money on aged single malts, but this (almost) accessibly priced 18-year-old Glenmorangie is a safe bet for scotch fans.

"Its honeyed spice notes morph into burnt orange, jasmine and wood smoke for a deeply delicious dram for any whisky connoisseur. This tasted fantastic rounding off a special dinner as a celebratory digestif."

The whisky in question retails for £120 via Glenmorangie’s in-house shop, but the Guardian review also lists it at £124 at Master of Malt and £116.89 at Amazon
