UPDATE: Glasgow to Inverness trains now ‘running as scheduled’ after vehicle ‘struck bridge’
A VEHICLE which struck a bridge on the Highland Main Line has caused disruption for train services between Glasgow and Inverness today (February 4).
The vehicle, which struck a bridge between Dalwhinnie and Blair Atholl has caused train services between Glasgow Queen Street and Inverness to be “delayed or revised”.
ScotRail and Network Rail teams are on-site, and carrying out an assessment as to what repairs may be needed, as of 10.54am today.
In a post on social media, ScotRail said: “A road vehicle has struck a bridge between Dalwhinnie and Blair Atholl. Our response team are en-route to examine this and are on the way to be on-site .
“Until then we are unable to run trains through these stations. Train services between Glasgow Queen Street and Inverness will be delayed or revised.”
Network Rail said: “Our teams are responding to a vehicle striking Garry Viaduct, between Dalwhinnie and Blair Atholl on the Highland Main Line. Trains won’t be able to pass through until our engineers have inspected the bridge. We’ll keep you updated.”
