A NEW case of Covid-19 has been detected by NHS Highland for the fourth day running.

The number of cumulative cases in the health board area increased by one to 393 when the Scottish Government published its latest daily update.

The minor increase came after 77 new cases of Covid-19 were detected across Scotland in the past 24 hours.

No new deaths were reported among those who have tested positive for the virus.

And the number of people with confirmed coronavirus who were receiving hospital treatment last night rose by just one to 249.

Of those, only two were in intensive care – a figure unchanged from yesterday's update.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases of the coronavirus in NHS Shetland, NHS Orkney or NHS Eileanan Siar.

But NHS Tayside registered 27 new cases in a single day – taking its cumulative total since the start of the pandemic to 1893.

And NHS Grampian, where there has been a recent cluster of cases linked to bars in Aberdeen, recorded eight further diagnoses overnight. It has now reported 1873 cases since the start of the pandemic.
