Black Isle Repair Cafe ready to serve up fix-it solutions in Muir of Ord with swish and swap also on menu





THE chance to fix broken stuff and save the cost of buying new is being offered across the Black Isle.

The Black Isle Repair Cafe is a scheme whereby skilled volunteers share their knowledge in repairing items which still have useful life in them.

It’s part of a wider drive to encourage people to live more sustainably while diverting unnecessary waste from landfill.

The next repair session is being staged at Muir of Ord Village Hall on Saturday, November 2 from 1-4pm.

And for those looking to refresh their festive wardrobes cost-free, a swish and swap event will also be held/ It’s touted as a perfecr opportunity “to exchange your gently used clothing and accessories for something new-to-you”.

The initiative is held under the aegis of Transition Black Isle in conjunction with Black Isle Men’s Shed and Highland Community Waste Partnership.

Repair cafes are also planned at a number of other venues including Culbokie on Saturday, January 11 at Findon Hall and North Kessock Village Hall on Saturday, February 8.

General repairs, some electrical repairs, sewing, tool sharpening a computer clinic and bike repairs are all possible.
