A Skye fisherman living in Evanton was remanded in custody after admitting a drunken disturbance in the Easter Ross village.

John MacInnes, who had been bailed to an address in Teandallon Square accused of a breach of bail, appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court this week.

He admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and repeatedly kicking and punching a door at that address on May 26 and assaulting a woman there by throwing a can of liquid at her.

MacInnes (26) was on several bail orders at the time.

Defence solicitor Roger Webb told the court that his client had other cases pending, one a domestic and the others breaches of bail by communicating with a Kyleakin woman via electronic means.

He said: "He suffers from depression and had been drinking when these offences took place."

Sheriff Gary Aitken called for a background report without hearing from fiscal depute Michelle Molley and remanded MacInnes in custody until July 20.
