McGinty's fish and chip shop in Fortrose on Black Isle changes hands after 16 years as Tain couple take over
A popular fish and chip shop on the Black Isle has changed hands after 16 years.
Lia Scott and Mick Buchan are the new custodians of McGinty's fish and chip shop in Fortrose.
The couple, who move to the area from their hometown of Tain, have leased the name and property from the previous owner.
New proprietor Lia brings extensive fish and chip shop experience, having worked in supervisory and management positions in Ullapool and Invergordon.
She said: "I had been working for Alastair in the Invergordon McGinty's chip shop as a supervisor for the past eighteen months.
"When he offered my partner and I the chance to take over, we jumped at the chance."
Alastair Hamilton, who has owned the shop since 2005, said, "I would like to thank the people of the Black Isle for their loyalty and support over the last 17 years. I am delighted to pass the business on to a couple with considerable talent and experience."
Lia's partner Mick Buchan previously worked as the sous chef at The Seaforth, including its popular fish and chip shop, The Chippy. He was also the head chef at the Bo & Muc restaurant at the Torridon resort."
The duo took the reigns from March 2 and have enjoyed a good start to trading.
Lia added: "Our opening week went brilliant and all the locals have been lovely. We both thoroughly enjoy working in the hospitality industry and are looking forward to our future at McGinty's in Fortrose."
