A FAMILIAR face was on the streets of an Easter Ross town this week reiterating a message oft-repeated during the coronavirus lockdown.

The appearance of Nicola Sturgeon – or rather a quirky piece of artwork bearing a passing resemblance to the First Minister – turned heads in Tain on a day when she was making headlines in Scotland's capital.

'Yees hav aw been telt – stay in the hoose" read the banner.

The First Minister had earlier told a daily press briefing that the prospect of a return to full lockdown couldn't be ruled out if a significant number of people continued to flout Scottish Government guidelines.

Evidence of people flocking to beauty spots over the weekend and ignoring guidance about sticking around five miles from home for exercise raised the spectre of changes.

It's unclear meanwhile who is behind the striking new addition to Tain's streetscape...
