THE wonders of Wester Ross will be the star attraction when the wheels start turning on a historic commercial vehicle run next year.

Organisers of the Highland Historic Commercial Vehicle Road Run, which starts out in Alness, have revealed next year's destination will be Ullapool.

It has been scheduled for April 25, 2020.

Eighty-two trucks of varying shapes and sizes took part in this year's event which started out from the old Invergordon Smelter site.

Organiser John Mackenzie paid tribute to everyone who had supported the event and donated to the raffle and auction. The 160-mile run passed through several Ross-shire communities and ended in Newtonmore. Surplus proceeds will be donated to the The Scottish Air Ambulance Service and Chest, Heart and Stroke.

Entrants travelled from as far afield as Shetland, Cumbria and Holland – the event's first international truck – with plenty from Dumfries, Ayrshire, Campbelltown and Aberdeenshire also.

Mr Mackenzie said: "There was a good crowd of spectators and photographers at the start off point and through out the route and we do hope they enjoyed the day as with the entrants."
