EASTER Ross father and daughter Andrew and Claire Ross were amongst a 16-strong group from across the country to scale Ben Nevis at the weekend to benefit Evanton-based charity, Blythswood.

The participants climbed over 4400m, trekking over some snowy ground as they reached the summit. The group made it back to base only seven and a half hours after leaving.

In total, over £9500 was raised to support people living with poverty, rejection and isolation.

Elma MacKay, Blythswood’s community fundraising manager for North of Scotland said: “The participants have gone above and beyond in their fundraising. Although the weather could have been a bit better, there was no cloud hanging over the group’s spirit for their day on the ben. After almost a year and half of events being cancelled and many people feeling isolated, it was wonderful to see a group of supporters, many of whom had never met each other, enjoying each other’s company and meeting new friends.

"The fundraising has gone better than we could have ever have hoped for in this economic climate and for that we want to say thank you to all the group’s efforts and to all their sponsors,”

We made it! Group celebration at the top.
