Families pay heartfelt tribute to men who died in Inverness incident; Victim described as 'a kind, gentle caring person who would help anybody'

TRIBUTES have been pouring in for the two men who died after an incident in Inverness on Thursday night.

Police and other emergency services were called to a property in the city's Balloan Road area at around 10pm.

Two men were pronounced dead at the scene. A 27-year-old woman was found injured within the property and taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.

The men who died were named today by police as Dwayne MacLeay (28) and Gary MacKay (35).

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with the deaths and is expected to appear in court on Monday.

The family of Dwayne MacLeay said in a statement: "Dwayne was a kind, gentle caring person who would help anybody, he lived to play his guitar and sing."

The family has requested that its privacy be respected.

The family of Gary MacKay also issued a statement. It said: "Gary was a dearly beloved son of Gordon and Linda, a brother of Darren and Alan, uncle and a friend to many. Gary was known by the nickname 'Chunk' by many and he will be sorely missed by all.

"Gary was a happy and friendly person, his passion was to watch Inverness Caley Thistle, his team who he followed for many years. We have been shocked by the recent events and would ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time."

Many took to the police Facebook page to express their sympathy to the bereaved families.

Annie Ogilvie wrote: "Rest in peace boys. My prayers with the young lady. My heart goes out to all their parents and families. Chunk,you were such a kind loving lad. Taken too soon."

Iain Mackay wrote: "My sincere condolences to the two men who lost their lives and their families. Wishing the female mentioned makes a speedy recovery as well.A massive thank you to all the emergency services involved in this."

Anna Mackay wrote: "Rip boys, Dwayne you're gonna be missed so much honestly... Had some of the best nights of my life with you, camping and jamming along to the guitar... You were so special to everybody who knew you, rest easy my boy."

Another wrote: "So sad what is Inverness coming to. More and more disasters."
