Return of the Black Isle Show is cause for celebration as agricultural event set to attract thousands to Mannsfield in Muir of Ord

THE scene has been set for the return of the most eagerly anticipated agricultural event in the north of Scotland.
The Black Isle Show preview evening is staged today from 4pm ahead of the main event tomorrow.
Organisers pulled out all the stops yesterday to make the final preparations ahead of an event which has become the biggest of its kind in the north of Scotland.
There's expected to be a celebratory atmosphere amongst attendees following the bitter disappointment of Covid-related cancellations over the past two years.
The event is staged at the Black Isle Showground at Mannsfield, Muir of Ord and typically attracts thousands of visitors across the two days.
Ahead of today's curtain-raiser, organisers posted: "We look forward to welcoming you!"
Later today, the show jumping final takes place from 4.30pm.
There's a vintage tractor parade scheduled for 6pm followed by a tractor-pushing competition – Give Fergie the Push – half an hour later.
The head-turning monster trucks display then takes pride of place at 8pm.
Around the showground there will be Highland dancing, cookery demonstrations (at 5.30pm and 7pm) and chainsaw carving.
Sheep shearing and the sheep show are also featured tonight with the flower show also taking place from 5pm, chainsaw carving and spinning demonstrations.
The action gets under way at 8am on Thursday (August 4) with livestock judging from 8am.
Vintage tractors get a run out at 1.30pm with children's races from 2.15pm, monster trucks at 2.30pm and a grand parade of livestock scheduled for 3.10pm. The tractors return at 3.45pm and then there's another chance to see the monster trucks at 4.30pm.
Around the showground on Thursday there will be cookery demonstrations at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm. The dog show is scheduled for 1pm and throughout the day street entertainers will be wandering around.
Both days feature a bar tent and music.
