Evanton man punched pedestrian in face in Inverness city centre, Highland court told

An Evanton man who caused "a nasty injury" when he punched a pedestrian in the face in Inverness city centre has had sentence deferred for a criminal justice social work background report.

Stuart Johnstone of Teandallon Place admitted the assault which took place in Union Street on January 2023.

The victim sustained a burst lip, Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald was told by fiscal depute Shay Treanor.

"It was a nasty injury and because of your record, I will defer sentence for a report." the sheriff, who opted to hear the full facts when Johnstone re-appears on October 17, said.
