Entries open for Highland Business Women Awards 2025
The Highland Business Women Awards are set to return for 2025.
Recognising female-led organisations, enterprises and cutting-edge ideas, the annual awards are a time to celebrate innovation and hard work.
This year, the HBW Awards are being sponsored by SJ Highland Construction, a master building contractor with over 30 years of expertise that provides exceptional building services across Inverness and the Highlands and is passionate about seeing women be given opportunities in every sector.
Samia Walsh, director of SJ Highland Construction said: “I am incredibly proud and excited that SJ Highland Construction Ltd is the title sponsor of the prestigious Highland Business Women Awards this year.
“For me, this isn't just a sponsorship; it's a powerful statement of our unwavering commitment to gender equality, not only within the construction industry, which I am a part of, but across all business sectors here in the Highlands.
“Owning and leading a construction company as a woman has given me a unique insight into the landscape of business and the specific hurdles and incredible successes that women encounter, especially in fields historically dominated by men.
“This personal experience fuels my passion for creating a more balanced and supportive environment.
“One tangible way we live this commitment is by actively encouraging women to enter the trades. I'm particularly proud that we currently employ a talented female joinery apprentice.
“Her presence on our team is a testament to our belief in providing opportunities and supporting women in developing valuable skills in construction.
“Our decision to become the title sponsor of the Highland Business Women Awards this year feels like a natural and necessary step.
“It's a significant investment in recognising and celebrating the immense talent, hard work, and achievements of women entrepreneurs and professionals throughout the Highlands. We want to help shine a spotlight on their successes and, in doing so, inspire more women to pursue their business ambitions, whatever the industry.
“I truly believe that by supporting these awards, we are not just sponsoring an event; we are investing in the future of business in the Highlands.
“We are helping to build a community where women feel empowered, celebrated, and have equal opportunities to thrive. My vision is to see more women leading in all sectors, and I hope our commitment encourages other businesses to champion gender equality too.
“This title sponsorship is a clear declaration of SJ Highland Construction Ltd's dedication to being a champion for women in business and a vocal advocate for gender equality across all sectors in the Highlands.”
Highland Business Women president Iris Thompson-Burton said: “In this our milestone 30th year, the HBW Annual Awards provide an unparalleled opportunity for businesses to showcase their successes, gain well-deserved recognition, and inspire the next generation of women in business.
“This is more than an accolade — it's a chance to stand among the pioneers shaping the future of business in the Highlands.”
