IT didn't take Kiltearn nursery kids long to get into the swing of a new attraction on their doorsteps.

Evanton Community Wood has launched a new basket swing to add to its attractions in the woodland play area.

The swing, built to last, is proving a hit with people of all ages.

It is aimed particularly at the toddler group but is also suitable for others, including those who just wish to lie back, swing gently and admire the trees and stars above.

It was requested by regular users from the Evanton Toddlers group and became a project for the volunteer team, led by Don Fraser. All the wood was sourced from the wood as was the gravel and sand for the concrete foundations. The swing set itself is of high durability. Funding for the project came from the Toddler Group through a Scottish Government Get into Summer Covid recovery grant, and from the wood group itself.

Vikki Thompson, an Evanton parent, said: "The village toddler group were incredibly lucky to have the woodland play area last year, when we were unable to meet inside. The space is perfect for the little ones, and the new swing adds to its appeal – and saves arguments about who goes next as they can all go on together!"
