A recovering drug addict who has held down a job as a cook for the past year was fined £290 after admitting the theft of jeans from an Inverness store a year ago.

Wendy Stewart (44), of Kilmuir Place, Invergordon took the £56 worth of clothing from Marks and Spencer on May 12 last year. But the items were recovered, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood: "She has been drug free and offence free for a year. At this time, she was struggling financially and is ashamed of her conduct."
