The car rally event has been a local highlight for a number of years.

AN Easter Ross organising committee has reluctantly pulled the plug on its gala and vintage car rally – and announced a provisional new date for an eagerly anticipated Peat & Diesel gig.

Tain Gala Association said the events were being cancelled again this year because of continued uncertainty around the Covid-19 situation.

The car rally and gala are traditionally eagerly anticipated fixtures on the town's annual calendar of social events.

It said of the cancellation: "It is with much regret the we have had to do this again this year but with the uncertainty around Covid-19 restrictions and following the latest Scottish Government public health guidance, as a committee we have to announce the cancellation of these events for 2021."

It added: "We look forward to welcoming you all back in the near future.

A rescheduled Peat & Diesel concert has been pencilled in for Friday September 10. However if Government Restrictions don’t allow this to go ahead then we will be working with Peat & Diesel Management to secure a new date for 2022.
