It follows the onslaught of Storm Amy which wreaked havoc across Ross-shire and beyond.

A number of schools in the county are understood to have been affected.

Park Primary, which has been operating with the Invergordon Academy campus since the primary school was destroyed by fire, is also affected by the turn of events in Invergordon.

Highland Council said the damaged and insecure glass has the potential to present imminent danger to anyone below if it is moved by further wind and rain.

A contractor will secure the affected areas using Heras fencing to eliminate the risk posed by any falling glass.

The contractor was expecting delivery of a machine either today or tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, the local authority said.

A spokesman said: “Once it arrives, they will proceed to remove all loose and broken glass. This will allow the school to be reopened on Wednesday morning, although the top floor of Block B will remain out of use.

“Following discussions with the head teacher, the school is happy to work around this arrangement to enable pupils to return safely. Once the school closes for the holidays, scaffolding will be installed to allow for the necessary skylight repairs.”
