FORWARD-thinking staff at an Easter Ross school have issued an appeal for donations of Christmas jumpers that no longer fit or aren't wanted any more.

Tain Royal Academy's bright idea will raise money for charity, help reduce waste and offer pupils next year the chance to snap one up for a small charge.

The simple reuse initiative will reduce waste and save money in future years.

In the appeal for donations, it said: "We’ll wash them and store them away, ready to be re-sold to our pupils for a small fee next Christmas.

"All profits will be going to charity and by doing this we are helping to save the planet too! We are happy to start collecting from now until the end of January."

Donations can be given to the Guidance department.
