A PROUD Easter Ross headteacher has thanked the “superstars” who helped make a milestone celebration for his primary a day to remember.

South Lodge Primary in Invergordon celebrated the 50th birthday of the school with a fun day which brought the town’s community together.

Head teacher David Hayes-Macleod said later: “I don’t know where to start! I am overwhelmed after what has to be one of the best days for being a head teacher of South Lodge Primary School.

“Our birthday celebration was absolutely amazing and I cannot thank enough everyone who has either come along, contributed to our fundraising and all our fantastic helpers and volunteers.

“To you all, it’s day like this and community spirit that was just oozing out that makes me so proud to be head teacher. I cannot thank you all enough.

“To the stalls, vendors, charities, performers - you have been amazing. I cannot thank my South Lodge Primary School Parent Council enough for bringing this all together as it was all their efforts that made the day the success it has been.

“The amount of people who have asked for this to be a yearly thing is astounding! However for now - thank you all! You are all superstars!”

The school now boasts its own celebratory song, sung by UK Top 40 charting performer Antony Brant, who previously sang with the band V.

The school has shared some photographs from the day on its Facebook page.
