A SPECIALLY themed art exhibition staged in an Easter Ross town will return for a third year after a successful fundraising drive which also triggered lots of happy memories for visitors.

Efforts to restore the community hub status of a landmark building in Invergordon while honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflict were the focus of the exhibition.

The poppy-themed event raised funds for Invergordon British Legion, Invergordon Museum and Poppyscotland, the charity for veterans of the British Armed Forces and their dependants.

It was organised bykeen local artist Louise Holling, whose dad, Hugh Ross, is secretary of the local legion branch.

Ms Holling said: "We had a successful weekend and raised around £850 for Poppyscotland, the museum and legion.

"I still think we can do better and we will be back in 2023 for year three!"

She added: "I’ve learned lots of lessons and I’m sure next year will be even better.

"The greatest thing about the weekend was the people coming in and spending time chatting about the legion in days gone past. It meant so much to them to come in and have a look around the legion and museum and remember what a part of the community it used to be."

She posted: "Thank you to everyone who donated, visited, purchased and supported our event by liking and sharing and trying to get the word out!"

Generous artists working across a variety of media donated pieces for the event. It followed the success of an inaugural art show last year.

Pupils from local primary schools South Lodge and Park also got involved in a kids’ corner of activities.
