THE cancellation of one Highland Parkrun event at the weekend resulted in some newcomers for an Easter Ross group on Saturday morning.

As previously reported, the Torvean Parkrun in Inverness was cancelled on Saturday after some travellers set up on part of the area used.

The nearest alternative was in Alness which has its own loyal following every Saturday morning.

The Alness group posted: "What a fabulous parkrun we had yesterday. We were delighted to welcome lots of @invrnessparkrun runners. We hope you enjoyed it. There are lots of great photos over on our Facebook page."

One new visitor from the Inverness area posted: "Thank you to all the volunteers . Really enjoyed our first visit to Alness Parkrun."
