New minister with background in music is upbeat about first charge at Invergordon Church of Scotland
The congregation of Invergordon Church of Scotland are excited to announce the imminent arrival of their new minister.
Rev Brian Macleod was born and bred in Stornoway. After leaving school Brian studied Music at Napier University. As a professional musician, he’s taught and played in all sorts of places and stages around the world, from Texas to Cornwall, Durness to Holland. He’s played in front of Susan Boyle, acted as a manager/A&R rep to various Christian artists, and filmed and uploaded YouTube drum covers of modern worship songs which have been viewed over 500,000 times! He also used to work for Crossreach alongside adults with additional support needs, a job which he enjoyed immensely.
Brian studied theology at New College in Edinburgh and had the opportunity to visit Israel and various Reformation sites in Germany and the Czech Republic. He spent his probationary period back in Stornoway at Martin’s Memorial Church, the church which had helped shape him so much as a teenager, under the mentorship of minister Rev Tommy MacNeil. Following his probation he continued at Martin’s Memorial Church as Assistant Minister, his induction taking place last June.
Brian and his wife Talita, who is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and their two daughters, Esther, 6, and Lydia, 4, are excited to be moving to the area and becoming part of the community when Brian takes up his first charge as Minister at Invergordon. The congregation of Invergordon Church of Scotland are looking forward very much to Brian’s induction on Friday, April 29 at 7pm and extend a warm welcome to anyone who wants to attend.
Brian’s move to Invergordon follows the retiral of Rev KD MacLeod who was minister of the church for 20 years.
