AN Easter Ross cafe has announced its impending closure "for the next few months".

Grounded Cafe and Catering in Alness said that it was "with a very heavy heart" that the decision had been taken.

In a post shared via its social media channels, it said the year "has been challenging to say the least" and that it was "with much sadness" that the decision to close – for now – had been taken.

It said: "Our aim and hope is that we shall reopen in spring 2021 with a bit of normality."

It said: "Since reopening after lockdown, the staff and I have received a great deal of support from the community, and from our volunteers –for every bit, I am extremely grateful and thankful."

The cafe, on the town's Obsdale Road, will remain open until Saturday.

The announcement prompted many supportive comments.

"Looking forward to when you open up again – you are all amazing and so lovely when we come in!", wrote Stacey Anya.

Carol Nicholson said: "Karl we will miss you and your staff who are all simply amazing, and of course all your lovely food. For a short while on our regular Wednesday visit we forgot about Covid-19 and had a lovely lunch at Grounded. Stay safe everyone, and we will see you in the Spring."
