A MOTORIST has been fined and banned from driving for three months after he was caught doing 116mph on the A9.

Szymon Kryszczyszyn (21), of Macbeth Court, Dingwall, was caught in a police speed trap on the 70mph limit dual carriageway at Arpafeelie on October 21, 2019.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard officers followed the Ross-shire man's VW Golf and stopped his vehicle at the Tore roundabout, informing him he was travelling at 116mph.

Kryszczyszyn admitted careless driving. As well as the driving ban he was fined £300.

Solicitor Rory Gowans said: “The car was relatively new to home, relatively powerful and he wasn’t concentrating.”
