A WOMAN drove from her Culloden home to Muir of Ord to help her cousin who had been assaulted, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

But 48-year-old Dana Craigie, of Walker Crescent, had been drinking before getting behind the wheel on June 27, last year and crashed into a wall at Tarradale on the A832.

Police were called and a urine test revealed she was almost three times the legal limit with a reading of 164mg of alcohol when the limit is 67mg.

Craigie was fined £420 and banned from driving for two years. However she will earn a six-month discount if she successfully completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course which she must pay for.
