DRAMATIC variations in temperature have been witnessed across Ross-shire over the past few days with a deep freeze in many parts giving way to a quick thaw overnight.

In some areas, double-digit minus temperatures were replaced within 24 hours by double digit positive ones.

Some of our regular Ross-shire through the Lens contributors have shared stunning images taken in the past few days, these reflecting the winter wonderland aspect much of the county took on.

James McPake, who has shared some beautiful images from the Lochluichart area down the years, caught this one at Loch Glascarnoch today.

The 4.3-mile reservoir which is skirted by the A835 road to Ullapool, is a popular spot for visitors. In the late summer of 2020 it gave up some of its previously hidden secrets when the water level dipped dramatically.

Then, the old road, bridges and even croft ruins emerged from below the surface.

The loch, a man-made reservoir which was flooded back in the 1950s is typically full to the brim after the winter months.

Davine Sutherland, meanwhile, was also out and about with her trusty camera to capture some of the snowy scenes.

These include one of iconic Ben Wyvis, clad in her winter best, and at Rogie Falls, another popular visitor attraction on the road to Wester Ross.
