DNA test leads police to Lochcarron Sailing Club break-in culprit

A DNA test on blood found in a Wester Ross sailing club didn't reveal the identity of who had broken in until months later.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that it was 21-year-old Christopher Gunn's first offence and no match could be found at that time.
But Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood heard that Gunn, now of Lochalsh Court, Inverness went on to commit other offences which led to him being charged with breaking into Lochcarron Sailing Club.
He admitted housebreaking with intent to steal, committed on February 15, 2018 while he was staying in a council house in the area.
Defence solicitor Roger Webb said: "He was drunk at the time and can't remember anything about it.
"It was his first offence but he then spent a year doing stupid things and committing other offences.
"He has now cleaned himself up." Mr Webb went on.
Gunn was fined £360.
