Dingwall to Evanton £3.3 million water mains upgrade flagged
Scottish Water is investing £3.3 million to upgrade a critical section of its water supply network between Evanton and Dingwall.
The “important project” will see the installation of approximately 8.2km of new water main at various locations, which will help ensure a continued supply of clear, fresh drinking water for customers, while reducing the risk of pipe bursts in the area.
The work will take place on both private land and local roads, with sections on the roads requiring various traffic management measures to ensure safety during construction. A rolling lane closure will be in place along the A862 between the Cromarty Bridge Roundabout and Dingwall. Signs will be posted in advance to inform road users of upcoming traffic management.

The works are scheduled to begin the week of January 29 and will take approximately 10 months to complete.
A Scottish Water spokesperson commented: “We appreciate that this work may cause some delays, and we will do everything we can to minimise disruption. We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding as we carry out this essential upgrade.”
The project is being delivered by Scottish Water’s delivery partner Caledonia Water Alliance, with Pat Munro serving as the contractor.
