A teenager who didn't like the way a pub customer spoke to his girlfriend and head-butted him was ordered to pay his victim £250 in compensation.

Jayden MacLennan (19), of Hill Street, Dingwall appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted the assault to injury and permanent disfigurement.

It happened outside the Revolution Bar in Inverness's Church Street on December 20, 2019.

The attack left 20-year-old Shaun Bowman with a cut above his left eye, and he now has a noticeable scar, fiscal depute Pauline Gair told the court.

Defence solicitor Graham Mann said: "He has apologised to the complainer and it was accepted. There is no on-going difficulty."
