Dingwall picture detective invite in bid to put names to faces from Ross-shire’s past
ROSS-SHIRE ‘picture detectives’ are being invited to help solve a few mysteries in the county town next week.
Dingwall Museum - which turns 50 this year - is staging sessions to help identify Dingwall people and places in old photographs.
The events will be held at Dingwall Library with the first session taking place on Thursday, January 23 from 2-4pm.

Susan Kruse, one of the volunteers at Dingwall Museum, explained: 'Dingwall Museum is undertaking an audit, and we’ve found a number of old photographs relating to Dingwall people and places without any other information.
“Join us at Dingwall Library for sessions to look at some of these. Together we can crack some of these cases! If anyone wants to help but can’t make this first session, please contact Dingwall Museum to express interest, and we'll let you know about future sessions.”
To help mark its milestone, the museum will be organising a number of special activities and displays. Further details will be posted on the museum website https://www.dingwallmuseum.info/ and Facebook pages.
Ms Kruse said photos “have arrived by various means and at various times”. She said: “We are now using a collection management system that will allow us to put pictures - and the rest of the collection - online. And if we have names we'll be able to allow searching and feedback.”
