Dingwall is back on the UK ‘photographic map’ with stunning new exhibition
By Joyce White, exhibition chair of Dingwall Camera Club
Dingwall Camera Club held their Annual National Digital Image Exhibition on Monday January 6, at the Castle Street church hall. It was well attended with members present in the hall and also viewers online via a zoom link. Members of the public were welcome and quite a few ventured out, despite the cold weather, to join us for the evening.
This year was the 46th year of the Exhibition — held every year since 1977 (except for 2020, when it was cancelled due to covid). The club is proud to continue this event as it keeps Dingwall on ‘The Photographic map of Great Britain’.
Photographers from across the country entered with a total of 503 entrants and an amazing 5,212 entries submitted. The Categories of images were ‘Landscape’, ‘Monochrome’, ‘Nature’ and ‘Open Colour’. Our Judges for the event are all approved ‘Photographic of Alliance of Great Britain’ (PAGB). These selectors chose 21 per cent of the images for the final exhibition. Standards were very high with some exceptional images gaining the top awards.
Dingwall Camera Club has been running for over 50 years. We are a friendly bunch of people, with Members from beginner level to experienced Photographers who have gained awards at National level. We run Workshops, Members Nights, have Talks by Presenters — in person at Dingwall and also from across Britain and beyond using Zoom — giving talks on various aspects of photography : Travel talks, specific subjects e.g. portraiture, landscapes, nature, or on technical subjects.
New members are always welcome, and it is easy to contact us via the club’s website at www.dingwallcamerclub.com
