A WEEK-long gala begins in Ross-shire’s county town on Saturday.

Dingwall Gala Week opens from 10am to 3pm on Saturday with the crowning of the royal party and also stalls, based at Cromartie Car Park.

On Sunday, June 29, a children’s football tournament starts at the Jubilee Pitches from 10am.

There’s a dominoes competition at the Caley Bar the same day at 1pm and also a children’s pet show at 3pm in the Cromartie Car Park. There’s a £2 an entry fee.

Monday (June 30) brings a kids treasure hunt at 6pm at the Pefferside Park with donations welcome.

A car treasure hunt begins from the same venue from 7pm with a charge of £10 per vehicle.

And then on Wednesday (July 2) the 7pm gala ceilidh is hosted by the Legion Club with the £5 entry including tea and coffee.

Thursday (July 3) is quiz night at the Caley Bar from 7pm with a £5 per of up to five people.

Friday, July 4, sees a kids’ fun day for primary age children at the Legion Club from 2pm to 4pm with the request that all children are accompanied by an adult.

That same evening a gala fun bingo night is hosted at The Legion Club from 7pm.

And the gala, organised by Dingwall Fire Brigade Community Group, ends on Saturday, July 5 with the traditional floats and a dance with music from John B’s Daughter. That is hosted at the Cromartie Car Park from 6pm to 10.30pm.
