Dingwall Gaelic Choir tunes up to mark a milestone and boost kids' cancer charity

DINGWALL Gaelic Choir celebrates its 65th anniversary with a very special variety concert on Thursday.

The event at Dingwall Academy's hall is a combination of the choir’s annual pre-Mod ceilidh, milestone year celebration and fundraiser for a children’s cancer charity.

Guest artistwill be former choir member, soprano Margo Fraser of Muir of Ord, who will perform show songs as well as a selection of Scots tunes and other well-known arias.

Margo was the outstanding winner of the Ness Factor singing competition held last year.

Also performing at the concert and guaranteed to get feet tapping will be Inver-Ross Accordion and Fiddle Group.

Other young guests including the City of Inverness Youth Pipe Band and young clarinet player Christopher Stewart.

The choir will perform its choral pieces for the Mod which is being held this year in Glasgow. These will be introduced by popular compere Sandy Thompson.

Teas and coffees will be served at the interval along with home -made shortbread.

During the past two decades, the choir has donated more than £10,000 from its annual concert.

Proceeds from this year’s event will be shared with children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

The event takes place at Dingwall Academy Hall from 7pm.

Admission at the door £8 or £4 for school pupils.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
