A COMMUNITY survey probing the future development of Dingwall has had more than 100 responses in just over a week.

Businessman Liam Christie, who initiated the discussion, says people have many good ideas for the town and he is looking forward to the challenge of bringing them together.

The Dingwall survey hopes to draw together the community’s ambitions for the town and set in store a plan to deliver them.

Mr Christie said: “We have over 100 responses, which is pretty good, but we still want more views to look at the best platform to harness the community and business in the town to make a difference. What is really clear is that people from all walks of life are passionate about the future of the town.”

One group that approached him has said plans are well developed for the introduction of a community development trust for the area. He said: “We are still gathering information and views and we are trying to get all the groups, of which there are hundreds in the area, to take part.”

He added: “It strikes me as very important that we encourage more young people to fill out the survey, it is their future we are building and it seems to me that we need them to complete the survey.”

He added: “It is clear that everybody is behind doing something to improve the area. There is a lot of positivity. There are hundreds of people trying to do their thing, and that is to be commended, but it would be really good if we can manage to get together to strengthen what everyone offers. The article in the newspaper last week has caused discussion, which is great.”

He plans to bring the community together to discuss the results of the survey, which can be found at https://online1.snapsurveys.com/ufzvhz
