A FUNDRAISING push in Dingwall is helping to keep food on the table of local families at a difficult time for many.

Dingwall Community Fridge was set up to meet the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and has helped to reduce food waste going to landfill.

The service, running seven days a week from 8am-9.30pm, is run by a team of volunteers, picking up good to eat but no longer saleable food from local supermarkets. They are fundraising to provide extra fresh food for the shelves.

The group said: “We know that people want to support us and we want to make that as easy as possible. Thank you for your support and thanks for your kindness and generosity. Take care and stay well.”

It has set a £1000 target and has a fundraising page which can be found at https://tinyurl.com/t3ez9sus

The campaign has been backed on social media. Margo MacDonald wrote: "We all need to stick together and help each other without judging."

Elizabeth MacLeod stated: "A great project. Good luck with the fundraising."

Another said: "Thank you for doing this for the community."

Dougie Mackay said: "Well done on your hard work providing for this worthy cause!"
