There are still a few hours left for locals in the Dingwall area to have their say in the creation of an area place plan by Highland Council which it is hoped will “empower” communities.

The Dingwall & Seaforth area drop-in event is underway at the community library – part of Dingwall Academy – until 17.00 today. Staff want to hear from locals about what they would like to see happen with the town and where efforts can be directed.

The chairman of the Dingwall and Seaforth area committee Councillor MacKenzie explained that the drop in event was all targeting resources and services.

He said: “These plans will set out the vision, ambition and priorities for people and place in Dingwall and Seaforth. This will support targeting resources, service delivery and provide a clear vision for attracting external investment.”

The council said that across the region area place plans are being developed to bring together an overview of existing strategies and projects, and also making sure that a clear vision is captured of what the community aspirations are for their area.

There is a financial motive as well because by showing “the impact of every pound spent” that could help the local authority, its partners, and communities to secure funding for the area.

Cllr MacKenzie added: “I encourage as many local residents as possible to take the opportunity to drop in on one of these sessions, have a chat with the officers facilitating the event, learn more about the process and leave comments for consideration in the wider plan.”
