FIREFIGHTERS were able to reassure an anxious Easter Ross householder that they hadn't, in fact, left their cooker on after they'd gone out.

The Tuesday evening incident was shared by Invergordon Fire Station on its Twitter feed.

It said it had been mobilised to secure entry to a flat in the Inverbreakie area of the town.

It said: "Occupier had gone out and had thought the cooker was left on.

"After investigation using a short extension ladder to see in the window, it was found that the cooker had been switched off."

In response to a well-wisher's comment that it had been one of their easier callouts, the fire service said: "Indeed and always good to check out for the avoidance of any doubt."
