There has been a deep clean of a section of one of the most popular garden centres in the Highlands.

Simpsons Garden Centre's restaurant and kitchen were given the deep clean after an employee at the Inverness business contracted coronavirus.

A spokesman for the firm said: "We would like to inform our customers that a member of our non-customer facing team has tested positive for Covid. All precautions have been taken by our team as a result of this news.

"The staff member immediately informed us and instantly self-isolated. And as a precaution, anyone who came into close contact with them, has also been sent home to self-isolate for the required recommended time period.

"A deep clean of our restaurant and kitchen has been completed overnight and re-opened at 11am this morning, following a team briefing.

"The safety of our team and that of our customers is our top priority at all times. We have been in dialogue with Highland Council and would like to reassure you that we are following all necessary guidance.

"We are open and would like to thank everyone for their patience and support."
